RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a smart way of keeping yourself updated about the latest posts and articles on your favourite websites without even visiting them. Rather than you going to various websites to see if there is anything new; RSS brings the new content from these websites to you.
What is RSS?
Today there are millions of websites on many different topics. An avid Internet user would have some favourite websites which she would frequently visit and would like to keep herself updated about the latest posts there. However, what does she do if the list of her favourite websites includes 30 websites and she hardly has any time to visit each of them? RSS comes into picture here. RSS is a standardized XML file format which when read by a program, called reader, will present all the latest and unread articles from different websites as a glimpse (post title and some description). The user will then chose which articles she would be interested in and then would go on to read them.
