Introduction to websites

What is a website?

A website is a space on the internet offering information or selling products. It is like an electronic brochure which can be accessed from the Internet almost 24 hours a day and from any location. For example this page is a part of the website The Online World. A website may be a collection of one or many such pages called web pages.
Typically a web page is written in (X)HTML and can be accessed via the HTTP protocol.
