Bing.com: What's the hype all about

Bing is a new incarnation of the Microsoft search engine, MSN live. Launched on May 28, 2009 by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Bing has an advantage of several features over its predecessors. To begin with, on just going to the search engine website, you are greeted with a refreshing background image, bit of a reprieve for people who are bored with over-simplistic style of Google. We enlist some new features of Bing at the end of this article after we have discussed some relevant questions you may have about Bing.

Here is some intro on what Bing can do:

  • Has the MSN's algorithm changed?
Yes. MSN's latest blog releases relating to Bing categorically mention a significant change in the algorithm over what was used for MSN live search. Microsoft's Caroline Miller responded to a similar query on Bing's search algorithm, "We have made numerous improvements to our algorithm, focusing on spelling, freshness of results, and core ranking. Our algorithm is changing continuously to provide the best results. Although we have a six month release cycle for major updates, our algorithm is refined everyday to improve the relevance of our results and to better address our users’ intent." Overall by the look and feel of it, there appears to be some change in the results returned by MSN, particularly in more number of local relevant results.
